SEATTLE — The Arizona Cardinals were on their way to a disappointing loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but they had time to get a score and perhaps try an onside kick.

Forced to go for it on fourth-and-11 with 3:59 to play in the game, Kyler Murray lofted a pass in one-on-one coverage to wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown," who went up with Seahawks defensive back Tariq Woolen along the sideline nearest the Cardinals bench.

The two players' legs got tangled, Woolen landed on Brown's lower left leg after intercepting the pass and Brown had to be helped off the field, eventually placed on a cart to be taken to the locker room.

As if the Cardinals needed their leading receiver to go down, after losing a division game and looking the worst they have on offense in a game all season.

"It's tough. You know, he went up to try and make a play and try to break up the interception there," Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said of Brown. "Unfortunate, but that's how it goes. Hopefully he's OK."

There was some positive news. Despite being in a walking boot in the locker room, Brown said his X-rays were negative but that he will know more about his status on Monday.

"Don't know how my foot got tangled up. DB (Woolen) made a good play, just one of those plays you know you wish you had back," Brown said.

"On the play where I got the interception, I had seen that Kyler Murray and Marquise Brown did a signal, or something like that, and just knowing who Marquise Brown is, and the situation it was, he’s going to have to go deep," Woolen said. "So I just made sure I stayed on top the whole route and I just made a play on the ball."

The Cardinals get some fast reinforcement at wide receiver this coming week. DeAndre Hopkins returns after serving his six-game suspension, and if Brown has to miss time, getting Hopkins back together with quarterback Kyler Murray will be a boost.

"He's a playmaker I mean, there's no doubt and he's going to be anxious to get the ball in his hands and be super competitive," Kingsbury said, "and so we need him to to lift us up, there's no question, with how we're playing right now."

And yet, Kingsbury said it might be too much to ask for a fully football-ready Hopkins Thursday against the New Orleans Saints.

"I hope that he can provide just a spark. Like I said, on the practice field the way he competes and his play making, his after-the-catch stuff, he's a guy you get it close to him he's going to make a play on the ball," Kingsbury said. "But a short week without practicing for however many weeks he's not practiced, it's a tall task. Just to have his ability out there will be big for us."

Brown had five catches for 68 yards and is up to 43 grabs for 485 yards on the season, both of those number team highs.

Other Cardinals were asked about the return of Hopkins.

"I think Hop is going to bring a lot of great things. He’s one of the best receivers in the whole league," safety Budda Baker said. "To have that guy back is going to be a big problem. Especially me playing defense, I understand defenses and I know when guys have good guys. The type of defenses you have to play with those good players, Hop is going to be sensational coming back."
