Arizona Cardinals NFL draft odds not high on team trading No. 3 pick, despite speculation

There has been a lot of speculation swirling about the Arizona Cardinals potentially trading their first pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the No. 3 overall selection.

But some recent odds don't appear to be too high on the possibility of the Cardinals following that course of action.

Bookies.com released odds for what Arizona's NFL team will do with their first-round pick in the April 27 NFL draft and it has "The Field/Trade Pick" at +650 in the odds, giving those outcomes just a 13.3% chance of happening.

The odds have a huge favorite for whom Arizona takes with the No. 3 pick.

It has the Cardinals selecting Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. at -150, giving it a 60% implied probability.

Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter is at +350 (22.2%) to be the Cardinals' pick at No. 3, in the odds.

Two other players show up in the odds, with Oregon CB Christian Gonzalez at +700 (11.8%) and Texas Tech edge rusher Tyree Wilson at +750 (11.8%).

Adam Thompson writes: "When it comes to edge rushers, Will Anderson Jr. has separated himself from the pack in many eyes. He’s been compared favorably to Von Miller and called the best defensive player to come out of Alabama in three decades. How does a team with a glaring need at the position pass on a guy like that? It probably doesn’t. Anderson is a big favorite on NFL betting sites to land in Arizona and take over where Watt, Allen and Chandler Jones left off."

Anderson Jr. is a very trendy pick for the Cardinals at No. 3 in many recent 2023 NFL mock draft projections, as well, with The Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman among the writers predicting that Anderson will land in Arizona.

Some NFL writers, however, continue to project the Cardinals trading down in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft, with some having them moving down to No. 4 and still taking Anderson, but others predicting Arizona to drop further in the draft and miss out on the Alabama edge rusher.
