Arizona Cardinals trade speculation: Bradley Chubb, Roquan Smith, Daron Payne 2022 targets

The 2022 NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday at 1 p.m. MST and speculation surrounding potential trade candidates and targets for the Arizona Cardinals is swirling.

A lot of that speculation surrounds pass rushers, with Bradley Chubb of the Denver Broncos, Roquan Smith of the Chicago Bears and Daron Payne of the Washington Commanders among them.

SB Nation: Cardinals should trade for Broncos' Bradley Chubb

Seth Cox writes: "If I am the Cardinals, I call and see if they want a second this year and a third next year for Chubb. If that is not enough, I would go as high as two second round picks, or a first this year, but getting a young pass rusher who has produced and been to a Pro Bowl, who is familiar with Vance Joseph, would be a huge boost for not only 2022, but for the future."

Walter Mitchell writes: "If the Cardinals can’t stop the run and the steady diet of screen passes they have been getting torched on, then they have no chance to be legitimate contenders. Roquan Smith is the ideal ILB to take the romance out of the run and screen passes."

Jess Root writes: "They do have some young pass rushers in Cameron Thomas, Myjai Sanders and Victor Dimukeje, and those players have shown some promise, but to get an athletic freak who has proven production and can help them now, it makes total sense. He could become a cornerstone piece of a young defense in the years to come."

Cards Wire: Commanders' Daron Payne potential trade fit with Cardinals

Alex Sutton writes: "The Cardinals could certainly use help at the edge rusher position, but Payne is such a force from the interior that they could likely get away with what they currently have on the outside if they acquired him. The addition of Payne with J.J. Watt and Zach Allen is a very formidable unit."

Sports Illustrated: Daron Payne, Trysten Hill, Sean Murphy-Bunting potential trade candidates for Arizona

Kyler Burd writes: "Byron Murphy Jr., Marco Wilson, and the recently returned Antonio Hamilton have done a semi-respectable job in the secondary so far, but it is clearly a position group that could use an injection of talent. If Keim saw something in Murphy-Bunting, don't be surprised if he is willing to part with another late round pick to give him a chance to revitalize his career in Arizona."

Raising Zona: Cardinals would do well to trade for Bradley Chubb

Sion Fawkes writes: "With the Broncos looking closer to a team in rebuilding mode and the Russell Wilson trade on pace to be one of the biggest flops in recent memory, Denver needs to go out of its way to salvage what they can, so expect, as I outlined in my previous trade scenario, for the maligned franchise to demand draft picks. I do believe, however, it’s farfetched but not impossible that the Broncos could squeeze a first rounder out of the Cardinals or another team."

Kristopher Knox writes: "It would make sense for Arizona to take a flier on Jets wideout Denzel Mims, who was available in the offseason, according to SNY's Connor Hughes. The Jets wanted a fourth-round pick then, per Hughes but they may be willing to accept less now."

Jim Koch writes: "The still-effective pass-rusher signed a two-year contract with Houston back in May, and is probably sorry that he did. A scenario in which Hughes is wearing a Cardinals uniform could be just a phone call from Keim away."

Fansided: Cardinals should trade for package Bradley Chubb, Melvin Gordon

Sion Fawkes writes: "This trade involves two young players in Bradley Chubb and Isaiah Simmons, neither of whom have lived up to expectations. Simmons is nowhere near as good as many in the Red Sea want to believe he is, having become more of a player who puts together between two and three subpar performances for every big game he has."
