The 2022 MLB trade deadline has passed and the Arizona Diamondbacks didn't make many moves.

The Diamondbacks sent outfielder David Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for catching prospect Christian Cerda in one trade.

In another, Arizona sent pitcher Luke Weaver to the Kansas City Royals for third baseman Emmanuel Rivera.

The team did not deal reliever Joe Mantiply, starter Merrill Kelly or any other players that had been rumored as potential trade targets of other MLB teams.

Look back at our updates surrounding the Diamondbacks leading up to the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.

MLB Network: Diamondbacks won't trade Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly

Jon Heyman writes: "D-Backs have determined Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly aren’t going anywhere. They’ve gotten a few nibbles on October stalwart MadBum but nothing serious yet."

MLB.com: No urgency for Diamondbacks to trade Joe Mantiply

Mark Feinsand writes: "Among relievers with at least one year of club control, All-Stars Gregory Soto (Tigers), David Bednar (Pirates) and Joe Mantiply (D-backs) have drawn significant interest, but their teams have no urgency to trade them unless they get a solid return. Other bullpen arms that could move Tuesday include Scott Barlow (Royals), Mark Melancon (D-backs), Givens (Cubs) and Joe Jiménez (Tigers)."

PHNX Sports: Will Diamondbacks trade Madison Bumgarner?

Jesse Friedman writes: "If the D-backs try to get real prospect value in return, they are almost definitely going to have to pay more than $20 million of Bumgarner’s remaining salary to make it happen. Even so, teams aren’t likely to relinquish any of their best prospects in exchange for a backend starter. For a team that actively benefits from Bumgarner’s steady presence in the starting rotation, it’s hard to see how a trade makes sense. For now, all signs point to Bumgarner staying in the desert, where he can continue to work with pitching coach Brent Strom to salvage what’s left of his remarkable pitching career."

Dodgerblue.com: Joe Mantiply a trade target for Los Angeles Dodgers?

Blake Williams writes: "Joe Mantiply was named to his first career All-Star selection this season and he isn’t a free agent until 2027, but he’s 31 and has a history as a journeyman reliever. The Arizona Diamondbacks would be smart to sell high on the southpaw, but his age and lack of elite stuff should limit his value."

Fansided: Who should the Diamondbacks target in trade in American League?

Michael Ballentine writes: "The Diamondbacks should be sellers as the August 2nd trade deadline gets closer. They have multiple players that they could trade off the current 40-man roster. Outfielders, infielders, starting pitching, and relief pitching. The Diamondbacks have a good stockpile of talent in their upper minor league systems, but that doesn't mean when they make trades, they should not target major league ready or close to major league-ready talent. This article is going to name the American League Contending teams and give a couple players who the Diamondbacks should target from each of those teams. First, let's decide who the contenders are."

Clutch Points: Mets need to target Joe Mantiply at MLB trade deadline

Diego Vergel de Dios writes: "Diaz, Lugo, and Ottavino are all righties who have been fabulous for the Mets. Pitching to lefties like Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson will be an enormous challenge. Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Joe Mantiply will fill the void and aid David Peterson as lefties who will be called upon to face hitters like Freeman or Olson in the postseason. Mantiply is not the typical reliever who would throw close to 100 MPH, but he relies heavily on his sinker. The ability to keep the ball on the ground is admirable, but Joe Mantiply must continue possessing his impeccable command and dwindling on the walks allowed."

Seattle Times: Joe Mantiply would help Seattle Mariners

Ryan Divish writes: "The Diamondbacks’ representative in the All-Star Game this season, he would come with a higher prospect price due to club control through the 2026 season. Mantiply has a 2.35 ERA in 42 appearances with 38 strikeouts and only two walks, yes, two, in 38 1/3 innings pitched."

The Arizona Republic: Diamondbacks could trade Ian Kennedy, Zach Davies

Nick Piecoro writes: "Hazen still has two other veterans, right-handers Ian Kennedy and Zach Davies, who could become free agents at the end of the season — and who thus could be logical trade candidates. But beyond that, he did not sound inclined to deal away controllable big leaguers whom he would need to then back-fill heading into next year."

SB Nation: Predictions for Diamondbacks at MLB trade deadline

It writes: "There isn’t much to like on our roster that Hazen might want to get rid of. Most guys on this roster that we consider redundant are considered as platoon or backup on other teams. It looks like most contenders aren’t looking for that, but look for everyday players. Like Escobar last season. I’d say a pitcher is most likely to get traded from this team because quality arms that can provide innings are always valuable, so I’ll go with Merrill Kelly. Davies too, if he is able to show some early results before the deadline."

Fansided: Diamondbacks should be in on Astros pitching

Michael Ballentine writes: "The Arizona Diamondbacks are definite sellers at the trade deadline. They have a number of expiring contracts and are in a tough National League west division. But the Houston Astros have made it known that they are willing to trade some of their controllable pitching for players who can help them win now. And the positions they need help at are a good fit for what the Diamondbacks should be willing to trade away."

SB Nation: Mariners dark horse trade candidate with Diamondbacks

Michael McDermott writes: "Mantiply is another player the Mariners could look to upgrade their bullpen. Their two lefties in the pen are Tommy Milone and Ryan Borucki. Milone has pitched to a 3.45 ERA in 15 2⁄3 innings and Ryan Borucki a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings. Both lefties don’t have particularly strong peripherals, so adding Mantiply to their relief mix gives Seattle another match-up lefty who can pitch in setup duty if there are a string of left-handed bats. Mantiply is also capable of getting right-handed hitters out, although less effectively in recent outings, so Scott Servais doesn’t have to sweat if the opposing manager sends in a right-handed pinch hitter."

The Athletic: 'Doubtful' Diamondbacks trade Christian Walker

Ken Rosenthal reports that Diamondbacks officials are “doubtful” that Christian Walker will be traded.  Walker's name has come up in trade rumors surrounding Arizona, but it is unlikely they move the first baseman.

MLB.com: Joe Mantiply a top reliever option at MLB trade deadline

Dylan Svoboda writes: "The 31-year-old left-hander has been the anchor for Arizona’s bullpen this year, posting a 2.37 ERA over 38 innings, striking out 38 while walking just two batters. Drafted in 2013 by the Tigers, Mantiply has bounced around a bit since then. But he’s come into his own in the Valley of the Sun by avoiding free passes and limiting hard-hit balls. With his funky sidearm delivery, Mantiply owns left-handed batters. Lefties are hitting just .228 against him this season while striking out 31.1% of the time. If you’re a team that may face the likes of Yordan Alvarez, Freddie Freeman or Matt Olson this October, Mantiply might be your guy."

SB Nation: 5 players Diamondbacks could trade before 2022 MLB trade deadline

Michael McDermott breaks down the players Arizona could deal at the deadline next week. He lists them: David Peralta, Joe Mantiply, Christian Walker, Ian Kennedy and Zach Davies.

He writes: "With a big wave of players that need to be added to the 40-man roster this fall and get an evaluation at the big league level, the D-backs will need to clear out some space for them. It takes two to tango when it comes to a trade, so there’s no guarantee that the team can successfully trade all of them. I don’t expect much to come back in this return since all five of these players are essentially spare parts on a sinking ship."

Fansided: Mets should target Diamondbacks reliever Joe Mantiply

Tim Boyle writes: "Do the Arizona Diamondbacks try to convince themselves Joe Mantiply is part of their future or do they capitalize on his awesome season? His numbers this year are mouth-watering. Through 33 innings, he is 1-2 with a 1.91 ERA. He has walked only a single batter and struck out 34. He appears to be the exact sort of “momentum” guy you want to ride with as your main lefty. Mantiply is the kind of player you never thought the Mets would need yet suddenly should be all over. His early success this season with Arizona after a very good 2021 featuring a 3.40 ERA in 39.2 innings of work is promising. Likely inexpensive, he is the kind of guy Arizona should flip now while the 31-year-old is at his most desirable."

Odds Checker: Joe Mantiply one of top relievers available on MLB trade market

Jason Radowitz writes: "Does anyone want an all-star? Joe Mantiply went 1-2-3 in the All-Star Game and has an ERA of 2.21 on the season. He's going to be wanted by many if the Diamondbacks end up letting him go. He's striking out 19 batters for everyone walk issued. He's a rising star, even at 31 years old."

Phillies Nation: Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly a realistic trade option for Phillies

Tim Kelly writes: "By all accounts, the Diamondbacks aren’t interested in trading Zac Gallen, and Madison Bumgarner is owed $37 million over the next two seasons, which reduces any trade value that the former World Series MVP may have. Kelly, 33, is probably the most attainable starter that the Snakes have. He’s having the finest season of his career, with a 3.26 ERA and 3.33 FIP in 19 starts. Kelly is owed just $16 million between 2023 and 2024, with an affordable $7 million club option for 2025. Not only would he be a nice addition for the 2022 Phillies, but a rotation piece for a few seasons."

Last Word on Sports: Joe Mantiply should be priority for Houston Astros

Braden Herb writes: "They don’t have a trusted left-hander. Acquiring Arizona Diamondbacks setup man Joe Mantiply could be a key move. Mantiply was a first-time All-Star this year and had a career year at age 31. In 36 2/3 innings entering Sunday, the lefty has pitched to a 2.21 ERA. Mantiply has struck out 38 batters and walked just two. By nearly every metric, Mantiply has been one of the best lefty-relievers in baseball. A left-handed reliever should be a priority for the Astros at the trade deadline, and Mantiply fits the bill."

CBS Sports: Diamondbacks will be a seller at MLB trade deadline

Dayn Perry writes: "The D-Backs dropped eight of 11 heading into the break, which may have sealed their fate as deadline sellers. They should definitely seek to move Madison Bumgarner, who's having his first useful season since 2019, and Merrill Kelly should also be shopped. Other swap candidates include Christian Walker, David Peralta, and All-Star Joe Mantiply."

New York Post: Diamondbacks don't want to trade Zac Gallen or Ketel Marte

Jon Heyman writes: "The Diamondbacks don’t want to trade Zac Gallen or Ketel Marte, Madison Bumgarner has limited value versus his contract, their roster is stocked with kids, and Ian Kennedy just went on the IL, perhaps leaving closer Mark Melancon and starters Merrill Kelly and Zach Davies as their trade pieces."

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Why trading for Madison Bumgarner makes sense for Cardinals

Ben Fredrickson writes: "When Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak was asked recently about the notion of acquiring a marquee pitcher at the deadline, he countered with a quote about prioritizing, “people that can eat innings,” and referenced last season’s unheralded (and nearly too-late) additions that worked out. Bumgarner could check that box without requiring anything close to a max exodus of prospect talent. And maybe, just maybe, a return to the postseason would turn a reliable addition into a remarkable one."

Audacy.com: Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen should be Phillies trade target

Joe Giglio writes: "Here’s the surprise name on the list. Gallen hasn’t been mentioned in many trade rumors, but the Phillies should absolutely place a call to a rebuilding Arizona team to see what it would take to pry away the South Jersey native. Gallen comes with the longest club control, so the price would be hefty. But we’re talking about a pitcher that owns a 3.48 ERA since debuting in 2019, including a season that ended with Cy Young votes."

MLB.com: Christian Walker a power-bat option at MLB trade deadline

Mike Petriello writes: "You don’t win games based on what “could have happened,” right? For one thing, most winning teams don’t worry too much about a hitter’s average; for Walker, they’ll focus on the fact he’s 15% better than league average overall, with some potential for more. They’ll focus on the fact that there’s evidence that almost no hitter has found less good fortune on his hits than he has. They’ll take all that into account, note that he’s a very good defensive first baseman, and that he’s not even a free agent until after 2024, and there’s going to be more interest here than you might think -- perhaps even from teams looking ahead to next year."

SB Nation: Diamondbacks' Ian Kennedy potential trade target for New York Yankees

John Griffin writes: "As a veteran reliever on a last-place team who is a free agent after the season, Kennedy is almost surely going to be traded. Because of this, any team — the Yankees included — will certainly be able to acquire him for little more than a low-level prospect, so acquiring him would not prevent the team from doing anything else. But does spending a roster spot on Kennedy even make sense? vAt this point in his career, nobody would mistake the 37-year-old for the dominant closer he was with the Rangers last season, or even the above-average one he was with the Royals in 2019; he’s striking out the fewest batters he has since transitioning to the bullpen (21.1 K%) and walking more than he has since his days with the Yankees (10.2 BB%). Even so, his traditional stats, however, are more than serviceable, as he’s posted a 3.45 ERA in 28.2 innings. For low-leverage depth in the bullpen of a contender, that’s an acceptable innings-eater."

The Arizona Republic: Why Juan Soto trade doesn't make sense for Diamondbacks

Nick Piecoro writes: "The Diamondbacks also could believe their prospects are overhyped — and that they would be best served getting legitimate value for them now rather than letting them stall out once they reach the majors. But, more than likely, those arguments are outweighed by the cold reality: The time just isn’t right for the Diamondbacks. More than likely, that sort of push will come from a club that has a chance to win a World Series in the next couple of years — and one that might even be able to flex the sort of financial muscle required to extend him."

Clutch Points: 3 players Diamondbacks must move ahead of MLB trade deadline

Karl Rasmussen writes: "With the trade deadline inching ever closer, the Diamondbacks are likely preparing to part ways with a few players. If the value is right, they shouldn’t hesitate to send some veterans out the exit door as they continue to shape their rebuild. With that in mind, here are three players the Diamondbacks should look to offload at the 2022 MLB trade deadline."

The Arizona Republic: Diamondbacks may dangle Christian Walker as trade chip at MLB trade deadline

Nick Piecoro: "Walker’s name has not been mentioned much in media reports, but sources say the Diamondbacks have told rival clubs they are willing to talk about trades that involve him. His value as a trade chip is interesting on a number of levels."

Bleacher Report: Ranking Madison Bumgarner's potential landing spots amid trade rumors

Zachary D. Rymer writes: "Even if the Diamondbacks aren't willing to eat the money remaining on Bumgarner's deal to make a trade happen, it's possible they'll be able to move him anyway. Other trade scenarios include a swap of bad contracts and another team agreeing to take on all of Bumgarner's remaining money as long as the acquiring club also gets a prospect or two. With all this in mind, let's speculate on 10 teams that might pick up the phone and call Arizona GM Mike Hazen about Bumgarner, ranked by the likelihood of a deal."

The Arizona Republic: Diamondbacks 'open to discussing' outfield depth in trade talks

Nick Piecoro writes: "Beyond Thomas, Varsho and Carroll, the Diamondbacks have a collection of outfielders whom scouts and evaluators seem to view as intriguing but flawed players. Most are left-handed. Most have had success in the upper minors. And all of them could be the subject of trade discussions in the days leading up to next month’s trade deadline."

SB Nation: Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly a potential trade target for New York Yankees

Andres Chavez writes: "The Arizona Diamondbacks may be willing to listen to offers for 33-year-old right-hander Merrill Kelly. They could be open to dealing him for the right return: even though he is not young, he is good and affordable, so his availability is not a sure thing. Kelly, who is currently sporting a solid 3.26 ERA (3.33 FIP) in 19 starts and 110.1 innings, is having one of the best seasons of his career if we don’t include his stellar, but short 2020 (2.59 ERA in 31.1 frames). He has struck out 89 hitters (19.7 percent strikeout rate, 7.26 per nine) and has a good 1.21 WHIP."

Fansided: Texas Rangers could offer infield prospects for Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly

Seth Carlson writes: "On the flip side, the Diamondbacks would acquire three infield prospects, all of whom rank in the Rangers’ top 20 organizationally. With Corey Seager and Marcus Semien in the fold long-term, and with more talented names ahead of Cauley, Wendzel and Hauver in the pecking order, Texas can afford to part ways with these players, dealing from a position of great strength within the minor league system. This is especially true when you consider, again, the Rangers’ need for controllable, big-league starters."

Clutch Points: 3 best trade destinations for Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen at 2022 MLB trade deadline

Joey Mistretta writes: "According to USA’s Bob Nightengale, Gallen is “not going anywhere.” But the Diamondbacks have labored for a few years now and are clearly rebuilding. Zac Gallen would net them immense prospect capital. But can a team make a trade proposal that blows Arizona away? Teams are hopeful that Arizona will entertain trade offers."
