Arizona high school cross-country: This week's boys, girls top 10 rankings

The Arizona high school cross country season is starting to wind down ahead of sectionals set to begin Nov. 1, as they lead up to the state championships on Nov. 12. Athletic.net has put together rankings based off of the results posted by the Arizona Interscholastic Association from cross country meets this season. Here's a rundown of where things stood as of this week:

Boys Cross Country

Last year's Division I runner-up Gilbert Highland was atop the Division I rankings as of Tuesday. The Hawks have been a top three team at the state meet the last five years.

Defending Division II champion Flagstaff continues its dominance, led by seniors Spencer Lott and Dash McQuivey. Page currently sits atop the Division III rankings and are primed to win the state championship once again after finishing third in 2020 and second in 2021. Prior to that the Sand Devils had won six consecutive state championships. Chandler Preparatory has made its way to the top of the rankings in Division IV, after a third-place finish at the state championship last season. Here is a look at this week's top 10 ranked teams in each division:

Girls Cross Country

In Division I, Gilbert Highland looks to be continuing its success after winning the state championship last season, currently atop the rankings. Mia Hall is leading the way for Flagstaff in Division II, as the Eagles look to challenge Casteel for the state championship after finishing behind the Colts last season. ALA Queen Creek has competed and fared well with a young team with multiple freshmen contributing at the varsity level in Division III. Last year's runner up at Division IV Glendale Preparatory has had a strong season so far that finds them No. 1 in Division IV. Here's how the rankings looks as of Tuesday.
