Hamilton's Quincy Adams gets full ride to Ball State

Quincy Adam's patience and determination paid off.

The 2022 Chandler Hamilton graduate went deep into the summer to find a college destination. Adams, a 6-foot-5 guard who made The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona basketball team last season, has signed with Division I Ball State out of Indiana.

"Coach (Michael) Lewis believes even with today's portal young talent can be developed along with the older guys to build culture," Adams said. "He came across my film, likes the way I compete and thought I'd be a good piece to add."

Adams, who moved in from Texas before his senior year in high school, became Hamilton's go-to guy, showing off great athleticism, leadership and the ability to score from all three levels.

His clutch play led Hamilton to a 43-40 win over defending 6A state champion Phoenix Sunnyslope in the quarterfinals. He helped the Huskies reach the state championship game, leading the team in scoring and rebounding.

He averaged 16 points in his four-year varsity career. He made The Republic's All-Arizona team.

"I think they landed a gem, and Ahamed found a great program," Apollo coach Jacob Marin said. "It makes perfect sense for all involved.

"He will have an opportunity to be a major factor in the rotation as a freshman. I have known this young man for a long time and there is no doubt in my mind he will put in the work and seize that opportunity."
