Arizona High School Sports Awards show will honor state's top student athletes on Saturday

Top high school athletes in more than 20 sports sanctioned by the Arizona Interscholastic Association will be honored this Saturday during the 9th Arizona High School Sports Awards event.

After two years of suspending the in-person awards show because of the COVID-19 pandemic, event returns to a live event at 7:30 p.m. at ASU Gammage Theater.

The show honors more than 200 high school athletes from across the state of Arizona, as well as naming players of the year in more than 20 sports.

Several major awards will also be announced, including overall Girls Athlete of the Year, Boys Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year and the Courage Award. The honorees are selected by The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com sports.

Arizona Cardinals'  running back Eno Benjamin will be special guest speaker at the event.

The Arizona High School Sports Awards is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country. The Arizona High School Sports Awards are produced in partnership with Diamond Kitchen and Bath and Mega Furniture.
