Will Arizona Republican Reps. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs vote against aid to Israel?

President Joe Biden has asked Congress to approve $106 billion in emergency aid for Israel and Ukraine, a package that also would increase funding for U.S. border security.

Of course, this assumes that Republicans will figure out that America actually needs a House of Representatives and find a way to choose a speaker.

Which, for now, seems iffy.

Anyway, Biden is supported in his proposal by Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said during a couple of television interviews, “I know there are some Republicans in the Senate, and maybe more in the House, saying Ukraine is somehow different. I view it as all interconnected."

He added, “This is a question of whether it is a serious threat to the United States. If the Russians are not defeated, they’re going to the NATO countries next.”

Russia has 2 Arizona friends in Congress

Two of Russia’s very best friends in the U.S. Congress are Arizona’s Republican Reps. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs.

Gosar already has said he would not vote on an Israeli aid package tied to aid for Ukraine.

He posted on X, formally Twitter, “It is a mistake 2 couple Israel funding w/Ukraine Funding. I will vote 4 necessary funding 2 assist Israel in its time of need but if combined with billion$ more for Ukraine I will B a no. I have not supported the Ukraine proxy war & will not start now just because it’s wrapped with an Israeli flag.”

Biggs hasn’t said definitively that he’d vote against the package, but he did post on X, “Ukraine and Israel aid should not be tied together. Shame on Joe Biden.”

Or is it shame on Biggs and Gosar, who for years have cozied up to Russian President Vladmir Putin, whom the late-Sen. John McCain called “a thug and a murderer and a killer and a KGB agent”?

Biggs and Gosar refuse to help Ukraine

Last year, the House rejected an amendment from Biggs by a vote of 104-330 that would have stripped $300 million from the bill for the Pentagon to train Ukrainian soldiers and purchase weapons for Kyiv.

Also last year, Biggs and Gosar were among only six House members to vote against a bill meant to document and preserve evidence of war crimes during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Arizona’s pair of Putinistas also were among 63 members of Congress — again, all Republicans — to vote no on a non-binding resolution reaffirming our country’s “unequivocal support for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as an alliance founded on democratic principles.”

Will they protect Russia or aid Israel?

One of Putin’s top priorities is destroying the alliance.

Also last year, Biggs and Gosar were among 17 House members — yep, all Republican — to vote against a bill permitting a Russian oil ban and approving additional sanctions against the Kremlin.

We may well soon find out if the pair’s loyalty to Vlad the Destroyer is stronger than their support for Israel.

Gosar’s already in, of course.

He once actually said — I am not making this up — “Ukraine is not our ally. Russia is not our enemy.”
