Arizona State defensive back Tommi Hill says he will transfer

The Arizona State football program has had a lot of depth in the secondary the last two years, but that is taking a hit as true freshman Tommi Hill announced on social media he intends to transfer.

Hill was a primary backup this season and saw some time on special teams. With the Sun Devils graduating veteran cornerbacks Chase Lucas, Jack Jones and Timarcus Davis, Hill likely would have contended for a starting spot come the spring.

The 6-foot, 205-pounder totaled nine tackles in 11 games.

Hill was one of ASU's top 2021 recruits, coming to ASU out of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, where he excelled on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and defensive back for a team that finished as 7A state runner-up with a 13-2 record.

He was the No. 228 overall prospect and No. 11 at the athlete position according to 247Sports, which dubbed him a four-star prospect

Hill had 29 offers with 10 of those coming from SEC schools. In securing the commitment, ASU beat out the likes of Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Alabama, as well as national powers Oklahoma, Ohio State and Penn State. He alo was coveted by in-state schools Florida State and Miami.

His top six schools were ASU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska and Mississippi State.
