Arizona State football fans sour on Shaun Aguano as permanent coach after loss to Stanford
What a difference one game can make.
After Arizona State football upset Washington earlier this month, some ASU football fans were clamoring for the team to make interim coach Shaun Aguano the permanent Sun Devils' football coach.
They aren't clamoring anymore.
ASU fans criticized Aguano's coaching performance in the wake of his team's 15-14 loss to Stanford on Saturday, a game that Arizona State lost despite not allowing a touchdown.

Social media reacted to Shaun Aguano's coaching job and some of his decisions after the game:
Big Aguano guy. But it’s over. That was awful coaching.

I didn’t watch. Everyone I talked to said Jones was pretty bad. Aguano is a nice story but he doesn’t deserve the job. https://t.co/3N6C7RKGbG

Aguano lost the job today and that sucks, man. Was pulling for him. Both coordinators will be gone but not soon enough. Complete tear down surely coming. Excited? Is that the right word? Sure. Excited to see who we bring in. All new faces on staff next season. Yay turnover.

Shaun Aguano audition is over folks.
There was zero excuse to lose that game. Zero!!!!— Joey (@JCPHoops) October 22, 2022
Every AZ high school coach who signed a letter of support for Coach. Shaun Aguano should rescind their name. He proved today he doesn’t have what it takes to be a head coach at the college level.

Aguano is coaching himself out of a job by sticking with Emory Jones at QB

Aguano also just lost any chance he had at securing the full time position.

Hopefully Aguano stays on staff but I don’t wanna hear anyone advocate for him to be the #ASU HC.
Had to keep momentum for it to even be a possibility and they blew a very winnable game. Improved culture is great but not everything and he’s not the only one who can recruit AZ.— Mark Harris (@Harris_Mark7) October 22, 2022
Yeah this loss after a great win might be the one that does Aguano in. At least puts him out of the running

Aguano is gonna coach himself out of a job with his loyalty to Jones #ForksUp

Yea….. Aguano did his best Herm Edwards today.

Can we please stop talking about Shaun Aguano as HC next year.

Shaun Aguano should start thinking about looking for a new job. @ASUFootball

Can we start a "Back the A" movement for ASU to keep Aguano longterm?

Do you think ASU football should make Shaun Aguano the permanent head coach now?
