Arkansas Activities Association releases football and volleyball state championship slate

Little Rock -- The Arkansas Activities Association announced its 2022 season state championship schedule for football and volleyball Wednesday.

The Association's board of directors approved the schedules during the governing body's annual summer workshop that took place on Tuesday.

For the first time, there will be a state championship game at noon on Friday as the 2A football state championship has been moved up one week due to less teams competing. Also, the 2A classification has had an additional round of postseason play in the past.

All football state championships will take place at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, while all volleyball state championship matches will be held at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.

In 2021, Mansfield defeated Life Way Christian 3-0 to win the Class 2A state volleyball title, while Paris won the 3A finals 3-0 over Fort Smith area foe Hackett.

In football, Greenwood was the only area team to reach the state championship, losing 27-17 vs. El Dorado in the 6A title game.

Here is the schedule sorted by sport, date and time.
