Arkansas baseball’s Brady Slavens to return for fifth season with Razorbacks

Arkansas baseball will now have two starters from its regular lineup back for the 2023 season. Brady Slavens announced Friday he would return to the Razorbacks after not being selected in the 2022 MLB Draft.

Slavens tied second-round draft pick Cayden Wallace for the team lead with 16 home runs. He hit .255 with a .523 slugging percentage and 58 RBIs after spending most of the year at designated hitter.

Arkansas is looking to reload its roster after a program-record nine players were drafted this year. The return of Slavens is a boost for a Razorbacks lineup that was expected to retain onlyfirst baseman Peyton Stovall.

The Razorbacks have added 18 players via junior college and the NCAA transfer portal. Two transfers were drafted and have yet to announce whether they will come to Arkansas.

Arkansas also is awaiting the decision of ace pitcher Connor Noland. He was selected 263rd overall in the ninth round by the Chicago White Sox. Noland said before the draft that he was open to a fifth season with the Razorbacks, but after being drafted at a slot value of $164,500, it seems likely he will sign.
