Arkansas baseball outfielder Zack Gregory announces decision to enter transfer portal

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas outfielder Zack Gregory will enter the NCAA transfer portal to pursue other opportunities for his final year of eligibility, he announced via Instagram on Wednesday.

Gregory started 50 games for the Razorbacks as a redshirt junior. He finished the 2022 season with the team's third-best on-base percentage and fourth-most walks (35).

Gregory's walks and team-high hit-by-pitches (16) kept him in the lineup in the nine hole even as he struggled as a hitter. He finished the season with a .212 batting average and the team's second-most strikeouts (62). He had the fewest hits of anyone in Arkansas' regular lineup with 31.

"I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunities I was given at the University of Arkansas," Gregory wrote on his Instagram post. "Thank you to my coaches, my teammates, and the best fans in the nation for making me feel at home."

Gregory is the eighth Arkansas player to enter the transfer portal in June, joining five pitchers, two catchers and an infielder. The Razorbacks have one addition via the portal so far, former Creighton outfielder Jared Wegner.
