Arkansas basketball vs. Georgia: Scouting report, score prediction

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball is set for a tough final stretch of the regular season. The Razorbacks have games against three of the SEC's top four teams, including two road games. But first, Arkansas faces Georgia at home.

The Razorbacks will host the Bulldogs on Tuesday (8 p.m. CT, SECN) at Bud Walton Arena. A second consecutive win would give Arkansas a boost headed into that daunting three-game stretch to close out the season at Alabama, at Tennessee and then at home vs. Kentucky. A loss would be the Razorbacks' third in four games.

Here's a look at how the Razorbacks (18-9, 7-7 SEC) match up against the Bulldogs (16-11, 6-8):

Georgia's season summation

This season is the first for Georgia under new coach Mike White. The Bulldogs are tied with Mississippi State for 10th in the league. Arkansas, on the other hand, is tied with Florida and Missouri for seventh.

Georgia has won some big games, beating Auburn and Kentucky, but the Bulldogs have also lost four of their last six games. Most recently, they suffered a 108-59 blowout loss against No. 1 Alabama.

Georgia has struggled away from home, with their only road victory coming against Ole Miss on Jan. 14.

Player to watch: Terry Roberts

Senior guard Terry Roberts leads Georgia in points per game (14.2), and he's third on the team in rebounds per game (3.9). He ranks No. 9 in points per game in SEC play, just ahead of Arkansas' Ricky Council IV. Roberts is also No. 9 in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 38.6%.

Arkansas' defense vs. Georgia

Georgia's offense is toward the bottom of the SEC in most statistical categories. The Bulldogs' 39.7% from the field against conference opponents is No. 12 in the league. Its 76.1 points per game in SEC play is 10th, and its 30.9% from beyond the arc is around the middle of the pack at No. 8.

On the road against a strong defensive team like Arkansas, that could be a problem for Georgia. If the Razorbacks can limit a strong scorer like Roberts and protect the inside from talented forwards Braelen Bridges and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, Arkansas can keep the Bulldogs in check.

Score prediction

Arkansas 70, Georgia 63: Arkansas' defense will limit Georgia's scoring threats and take advantage of the Bulldogs' road struggles. On offense, the Razorbacks will continue to adapt to the addition of Nick Smith Jr. and establish a rhythm to give them a second straight win.
