Arkansas to begin season in top-20 of Associated Press Poll

The Arkansas Razorbacks kick off the 2022 season in just over two weeks, which means that the “preseason chatter” is all but over.

Monday afternoon, the Associated Press released their preseason poll for the 2022 season, and Arkansas is in a great spot, checking in at No. 19 in the initial rankings.

Arkansas is one of six SEC programs to earn a spot in the top 10 polls. Alabama takes the top spot, while Georgia, the defending national champions, begins at No. 3. Texas A&M is the only other SEC program ranked ahead of Arkansas, as they are ranked No. 6.

Chasing Arkansas is Kentucky, one spot behind the Razorbacks. The final SEC representative is Ole Miss, which is ranked No. 21.

Diving into Arkansas’ schedule, the Razorbacks will play five teams that are ranked in the top 25. Joining Alabama, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss, is BYU, they conclude the poll at No. 25, and season-opening opponent Cincinnati. The Bearcats are ranked No. 23, which ensures that Arkansas will begin the season with a top-25 showdown.

Three more opponents, LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn, received votes.

Arkansas opens the season at Reynolds Razorback Stadium against No. 23 Cincinnati on Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m. CT.
