Arkansas football is bowl eligible. What bowl game will the Razorbacks make?

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football is bowl-eligible for a second straight season after beating No. 14 Ole Miss 42-27 on Saturday.

Arkansas (6-5, 3-4 SEC) has one game left to improve its record, and possibly its bowl bid. The Razorbacks face Missouri on Friday (2:30 p.m. CT, CBS).

But where might Arkansas land for its postseason game?

The Razorbacks are likely above the cutoff for the lower tier of SEC bowl tie-ins, the Birmingham and Gasparilla Bowls, especially if Arkansas beats Missouri in Week 13. That would put them in the next tier of games, which includes the Liberty, Texas, ReliaQuest, Las Vegas, Gator or Music City Bowls.

Arkansas just played in the ReliaQuest Bowl, which used to be called the Outback Bowl. The Razorbacks have also been to the Liberty and Texas Bowls relatively recently. Bowl games like to feature new teams, and Arkansas hasn't played in the Music City, Gator or Las Vegas in decades.

Bowl games want to choose teams whose fans will travel well, and Nashville is a much easier trip for Razorbacks fans who might have mixed feelings about this season than Jacksonville, Florida, or Las Vegas. That makes the Music City Bowl seem the likely destination.

National bowl projections from vary in which bowl Arkansas might make.

USA TODAY's Erick Smith has the Razorbacks facing Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17 (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC). Jerry Palm of CBS has Arkansas vs. Notre Dame in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 30 (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN). Both Brett McMurphy of Action Network and Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated picked the Razorbacks to play in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 28 (8 p.m. CT, ESPN) against Oklahoma and Texas, respectively.
