FAYETTEVILLE — It took just over a week, but Arkansas football has found its new strength and conditioning coach.

Louisville's Ben Sowders was announced as the new hire Wednesday. Arkansas fired coach Jamil Walker on Nov. 26 after three seasons with the Razorbacks.

Sowders spent one season with the Cardinals after being hired from Georgia. He was an assistant strength and conditioning coordinator for the Bulldogs for four seasons, overlapping with Walker and Arkansas coach Sam Pittman.

Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield left the Cardinals for Cincinnati earlier this week.

Pittman said on an AutoZone Liberty Bowl media teleconference Sunday that Arkansas would be formally announcing a hire before beginning bowl game preparation.

"We will have a formal announcement sometime early next week," Pittman said. "We will have a strength coach in place, and he will be working our team out over the next two weeks."
