Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders extends waiver for moving-delivering FEMA homes

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas program put in place by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders for victims of the March 31, 2023, tornadoes was extended on Friday.

The governor extended her initial executive order to continue waivers for the transport of FEMA temporary emergency housing on the highway.

The order intends to expedite the movement of the homes by waiving certain highway load requirements.

FEMA currently has 36 trailers near Wynne, which was hit especially hard by the March tornadoes.

While the executive order remains in effect, commercial operators delivering the FEMA housing are exempted from Arkansas highway escort and curfew requirements. The waiver does not apply to loads over 16 feet wide, according to the order.

The waiver will now remain in effect until April 15.
