Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has two instant game big prize winners

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Two winners have picked up top prizes at the Little Rock Arkansas Scholarship Lottery claim center since Feb. 9.

Barbara Warren of Ozone was in the center on Feb. 9 to claim her $100,000 prize from playing the $5 X50 instant game. Warren told lottery officials she bought 10 of the $5 tickets while driving home from Fort Smith with her son.

She told officials she usually buys 10 tickets at a time for whatever game jumps out at her and has previously won $20,000 with this strategy.

The ticket was sold at the Dodge Store on Main Street in Clarksville.

With this winning she intends to do some home improvements for her son, his girlfriend and their child, who live with her, Warren told officials

Arkansas LOTTO jackpot reaches $1 million after no wins

Larry Stevens of Searcy came to the claim center on Feb. 12 to pick up a $50,000 prize from playing a $20 ticket in the $50,000 Blast instant game. He told officials he plays the lottery daily, but this was the first time he played the $50,000 Blast game.

The ticket was sold at the Exxon Food Mart on the Beebe-Capps Expressway in Searcy.

Stevens told officials he intends to use the money to pay off his car, which is his final major payment before he retires. He plans to retire in March, Stevens told officials.

Lottery officials said Stevens’ win means 10 top prizes remain in the $50,000 Blast game.

According to ASL officials, the lottery has raised more than $1.3 billion for scholarships since its 2009 start. In that time, $720,000 in scholarships were awarded, and $4.8 billion was awarded to players, with $406 million in retailer commissions and $175 million in state and federal taxes.
