Arkansas State Police arrest suspect in Southern Arkansas University Tech campus shooting

CAMDEN, Ark. – Arkansas State Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that took place Monday night on the campus of Southern Arkansas University Tech which left one person injured.

ASP officials said a 17-year-old from Magnolia was arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with the shooting.

On Monday night, campus police and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at the Highland Dormitory around 10:30 p.m. and requested the ASP’s help in investigating.

While on the scene, authorities said they were told the victim, a 20-year-old Camden man, was at a local hospital being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to authorities, neither the victim nor the suspect is affiliated with SAU Tech.

North Little Rock police investigating deadly Wednesday shooting

Police said the suspect will be charged as an adult and is facing multiple charges, including first-degree battery, aggravated assault and having a firearm on a school campus.
