Arkansas State University spring 2024 enrollment rises 11%

JONESBORO, Ark. – Arkansas State University officials said that enrollment numbers for the 2024 spring semester jumped 11%, setting a record compared to last year.

Chancellor Todd Shields announced Friday that 13,896 students enrolled on the Jonesboro campus, making it the highest student headcount ever for a spring semester. School officials said the previous record of 12,667 was recorded in 2014.

The university saw a 182% increase in first-time freshman and a 27% rise in new graduate students compared to last year, officials said.

University officials said the College of Agriculture, the Neil Griffin College of Business, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Nursing and Health Professions recorded increases in their student headcount.

Officials noted that economics and finance majors, computer science majors, digital technology and design majors, School of Nursing enrollment and the Master of Business Administration program all saw growth this spring.

The university’s online enrollment also saw a 17% increase in the spring semester, according to university officials.

Representatives with A-State said that official enrollment numbers are based on data at the start of the semester’s 11th day of classes.
