Arlington Heights Yellowjackets surge from behind, survive Waco University to earn win

When Waco University came to Farrington Field Thursday night in a matchup against Arlington Heights, they had an opportunity to make history.

“This would be the first 3-0 start in years, setting history around our place,” Waco University head coach Kaeron Johnson said.

Arlington Heights head coach Curtis James and the Yellowjackets didn’t let that happen, winning 21-20. The difference in the game was a missed PAT attempt late in the fourth quarter.

“The strength of our team is hard nose, tough players, trying to play fast and physical and trying to outwork everyone,” James said.

The players from Arlington Heights were able to outwork Waco University in the second half of the game to come out on top.

Both defenses held the line as there were no scores in the first quarter. The first touchdown of the night came from Waco University’s quarterback Cade Bynnom. Adrian Monreal’s extra point kick was good, and with 8:34 left on the clock of the second quarter, the score was 7-0.
