Arlington police: Maryland woman arrested for stolen car, more during parking violation

ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Maryland woman was arrested in Arlington County after police officers were investigating a stolen car and found a number of fraudulent IDs, credit cards and a loaded gun in it.

The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) was helping out with a parking violation in the 500 block of 12th St. involving a car that had fraudulent tags and a concealed vehicle identification number on Feb. 14 around 11:30 a.m.

While officers were investigating, they found a loaded gun with an extended magazine in the driver’s floorboard of the car. As they were investigating, a woman came and asked about the car being towed and said it was hers.

Officers tried to take the woman into custody but she tried to run away, resisted arrest and then hit an officer in the face. She was identified as Gianni Johnson, 27, of Temple Hills, Md.

The car and the gun were reported stolen out of Maryland. Officers also found multiple fraudulent IDs, numerous ID cards that did not belong to her, fraudulent credit cards and checks, lots of stolen items and suspected narcotics.

Johnson was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of possession of fake identification

  • Obstruction of justice

  • Possession of stolen goods

  • Possession of a stolen firearm

  • Altered VIN

  • Possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance

  • Possession of a schedule I/II substance

  • Assault on police

  • Unauthorized use of a vehicle

She was taken to the Arlington County Detention Center and held without bond. She was also found to be wanted out of Prince George’s County in Maryland.
