Arlington Woman Creates Website To Help People Find At-Home Tests
ARLINGTON, MA — Finding at-home COVID-19 tests can be a chore, as anyone who traveled over the holidays can attest.
But it just got a bit easier, thanks to a crowdfunding website from Arlington resident Olivia Adams. The site, covidtestcollab.com, allows users to report and find where COVID tests are available near them.
Adams, a software developer at Athenahealth, told NBC Boston she wanted to "create a one-stop shop for saying, 'Where can I get a COVID test'" to prevent people from going to the pharmacy and finding empty shelves.
Visitors to the site can type in their zip code and receive a list of pharmacies and stores in the area, with the availability of tests noted at each option. They may also confirm whether they found tests at that store or add a report of their own.
Adams launched a GoFundMe campaign to fund the cost of hosting the site and any potential future developments. The page has raised $350 of its $1,000 goal as of Friday afternoon.
"The most important thing you can do to help this effort and improve the website is to report when you see COVID tests in stock or not, but if you want to help out even more, we appreciate contributions of any size," she wrote.
It isn't the first time Adams has lent a hand in the fight against COVID. Last year, while on maternity leave, she designed a website for people to find open vaccine appointments.
