Armed homeowners help Macon Co. deputies arrest two men

ARGENTA, Ill. (WCIA) — Two Macon County homeowners are being credited with helping law enforcement arrest a pair of men who tried to flee from officers in a stolen car.

Officials with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office said that after crashing the car, the men tried to find refuge at a nearby home. The homeowner met them, armed with a gun, and one of the men was arrested at that location.

The second fled to another home nearby, but that residence’s homeowner also had a gun. Holding the man at gunpoint, the second homeowner called 911 and the man was arrested.

“We commend the homeowner for properly utilizing firearm training and assisting law enforcement,” officials said.
