Armed man threatened to shoot students outside Valley High School, Louisville police say

Update: A Jefferson Circuit Court judge sentenced Fox in October 2021 to three years and five months in prison.

A 20-year-old Louisville man was arrested Friday afternoon after police say he pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot students in the parking lot outside Valley High School.

Mason S. Fox, 20, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree terroristic threatening, second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot and thrid-degree criminal trespassing, according to court records.

According to an arrest citation, officers were sent about 11:10 a.m. to Valley High School, 10200 Dixie Highway, on a report of a suspect with a gun threatening to shoot students in the parking lot.

Three students told officers that Fox had pulled out a handgun from his waistband while in the parking lot, "racked the slide" of the weapon and said "he would shoot a student," according to the arrest report.

The three students ran inside the school building, police said. Officers arrived on scene and chased after Fox as he fled on foot, according to the arrest citation.

Fox was caught near the school on Donau Lane, which is also where Fox lives, according to court records.

Fox appeared for an arraignment hearing Saturday morning and remains held in Louisville Metro Corrections in lieu of $15,000 bond.

He is currently represented by a public defender, according to online court records.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17 in Jefferson District Court.
