Armenia Supporters Block Los Angeles Freeway in Protest Over Azerbaijan Conflict

Pro-Armenia protesters blocked both sides of the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles, California, late on October 3, to bring awareness to the escalating conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, reports said.

Local media reported protesters rallied against what they called the “aggression” of Azerbaijan in recent armed conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The long-disputed area is officially part of Azerbaijan but run by ethnic Armenians.

Police and California Highway Patrol deputies dispersed protesters before midnight but residual traffic delays persisted into the early morning hours of October 4, reports said.

Los Angeles is home to the largest population of Armenians in the world outside of Armenia, according to local news reports.
