Armenian Prime Minister Joins Supporters After Attempted 'Military Coup'

The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was seen on the streets of Yerevan on February 25 after what he described as an attempted “military coup.”

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, who released this footage, reported that a group of Armenian military officers “wrote a letter demanding his resignation.”

Armenpress, Armenia’s state news agency, reported that the general staff of the Armenian Armed Forces issued their statement in response to Pashinyan “sacking” Tiran Khacharyan, the first deputy chief of the general staff. The statement reportedly said “the prime minister and the government are no longer able to make reasonable decisions.” Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
