Armon Binns was named Wednesday the new wide receivers coach of the Northwestern University Wildcats.

Binns, a star receiver on the Cincinnati Bearcats football team that played in the Sugar Bowl after a 12-0 regular season in 2009, spent one season as Youngstown State's WRs coach.

Binns served as an offensive quality control coach for the Bearcats for two seasons before leaving for YSU.

Reactions via Twitter from Binns and Northwestern Football:

Before returning to UC, Binns played two seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011 and 2012. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, and on the Jacksonville Jaguars' and Kansas City Chiefs' practice squads.

Binns was an offensive analyst at Notre Dame under former UC head coach Brian Kelly in 2018, and he coached receivers at Hampton in 2019.

Binns caught Tony Pike's game-winning, 29-yard touchdown pass in 2009 that clinched a 45-44, come-from-behind win for UC at Pitt and Big East title.

In 2019, Binns was inducted along with the 2009 team into the UC James P. Kelly Athletics Hall Of Fame.

Northwestern's football roster includes running back and former La Salle High School standout Cam Porter, as well as tight end Marshall Lang from St. Xavier HS. Lakota West HS defensive back Joshua Fussell committed to NU last May.
