SOUTH COFFEYVILLE 10, COPAN 5: The Copan Lady Hornets put forth a solid effort in defeat, their head coach Randy Davis said. “They (South Coffeyville) are a quality team,” he said. “We played really well against them.” Sophomore Kam Van pitched the distance, scattering 11 hits. Copan pulled to within a run, 6-5, in the fifth inning. South Coffeyville snapped back with four runs in the sixth. During Copan’s four-run rally in the fifth, Faith Weatherspoon walloped a two-run triple, after Elzabeth Odum had opened the inning with a single. Zoey Secondine singled home Weatherspoon and Kennedy Watson put Secondine across home plate with a double. In addition, “Rylee Vanschuyver played tremendous at third base,” Davis said.

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN 3, DEWEY 0: Dewey fell just shy of winning three-in-a-row. The Lady Doggers loaded the bases in multiple innings; in the final inning, Dewey juiced the bags with two outs and a full count on the batter, but the clutch hit eluded them. “We had plenty of opportunities,” Dewey head coach Niki Keck said. Taelynn Maddox and Reagan White both lashed a hit for Dewey. Keck praised the progress of veteran White, who had to battle through injury early in the season. “She’s had some very competitive at-bats right now,” Keck said. “She’s really being very disciplined at the plate.”
