Hello A-J readers!

This week, we served a sweet story on a family's upcoming business, which will include gelato. D'lish hopes to open in December, but allowed us a look behind the scenes of how the shop began, and what they will sell.

"I'm just excited to see it all come together," said Amy Hayes, owner. "I want everyone to try this out."

We also got an in-depth look at what is going on in Metro Tower and the history behind the tallest building in Lubbock. It has had two other names and a long history predating the devastating 1970 tornado. Here's an excerpt:

"In 2019, WestMark Commercial announced that Metro Tower would be redeveloped by MRE Capital and partner Structure Development of Austin. During a 2019 interview, Alison Blalock of WestMark Commercial recalled thinking of the tower as 'her mom's building,' and how her own children call it her building."

Fajita Pete's opened just in time for Halloween, and the Toasted Yolk will open Nov. 7. Ajuua's, a popular Mexican restaurant in Midland/Odessa, opened a Lubbock location this week as well. Stella's Restaurant, Bob Mills Furniture and The Price Group celebrated anniversaries recently, with Stella's turning 2, Mills reaching 15, and The Price Group hitting 50 years.

Next week, keep an eye out for articles on an upcoming behavioral hospital, a follow-up with Fajita Pete's, and a preview of a new business that hopes to give parents a spot to hang out.

Another feature will be on TEGA Kids, a longtime Lubbock gym for children, where the owners gave some insight into their move from 82nd Street to Milwaukee Avenue. The interview also revealed upcoming plans to add to the fun.
