Around the Hub: Lubbock's business news includes Oceans Hospital, The Mom Lounge and more

This week, we broke the news on two Lubbock restaurants - Toasted Yolk Café and Fajita Pete's and several upcoming openings, estimated for December, which will include Oceans Behavioral Hospital and The Mom Lounge.
An interview with the hospital revealed they are looking to hire more than 100 people to help improve Lubbock's mental health for people ages 50 and older.
"There's a very big need, so the community in general, and the medical community there are arms wide open," said Dax Parker, Vice President of Market Development. "We're really just hoping to be able to bring awareness and complement UMC and Covenant, and just be a real mental health backbone for the community."
Mary McCabe and Anna O’Steen, owners of The Mom Lounge, also shared their story on how they became friends and business partners. Their business aims to help parents and children meet others, along with offer classes.
"Moms, it can get lonely and postpartum is real," the duo said in an email. "So, we want to open the communication and let parents and families know that we have all been there. We were determined to open a place that moms and families could go and work on their postpartum, while also meeting other new moms."

Another feature offered a look into TEGA Kids move from 82nd Street to Milwaukee. The new gym is nearly double the size, and will offer more comfort and activities for children. Owners Jeff and Michelle Dow explained the move, their history within gymnastics, and what they would like people to know about their business.
"This gym (on Milwaukee) is sort of your dream facility, what you would want to have," Michelle said. "It's the same program Simone Biles started in. When you see the kids on TV in the Olympics, they all started in a gym, in a place like this."

Some business updates this week are for Westar Commercial Realty and Jefferson Books. Westar is moving from 4415 71st St., Suite 12, where it has grown since 1984, to the Southridge complex at 4418 74th St., Suite 65. Jefferson Books announced their books will be $1 until they close on Nov. 14.
Moving into next week, readers should look for more new business stories. Two upcoming stories will be on a healthy restaurant's expansion to a second location, and another story will be on a Houston-based business reaching the Hub City. Keep an eye out for the A-J's holiday content, which should be rolling out later next week.
This week's best bite will go to Llano Cubano and best sip at Lemon Love LBK, both of which I tried at Food Truck Alley. The cloudy Election Day could not dampen their flavors, and gave just the right amount of energy to some hungry reporters on Tuesday. I had the regular Cuban and a Dragon Fruit Lemonade, and would likely order both again.
