Hello A-J readers!

As the year comes to a close, the business news is cooling off. The main business news this week comes from a former city jail, which will soon become a boutique hotel.

Jim Snyder, owner of the Courthouse Lofts and the soon-to-be Mayo Lubbock, offered me a first look inside the former city jail. As we walked around the cells and offices, he detailed his hopes to add to the revitalization of downtown Lubbock.

"Downtown is the heart and core of any community, it's where it all started and there's so much history to it," Snyder said. "These two buildings (the former courthouse and jail) are very importance to the origins of the city of Lubbock. I'm excited about creating a live, work, play historic community here."

I'm certainly interested to see the final look in this renovation.

Good Line Brewing Co. has only been open since June, but the business is already putting Lubbock on the map for craft brew lovers. This week, Hops Culture named Good Line as one of the top new breweries in the U.S. for the year.

If you know of any businesses you miss that closed this year, please let me know so I can include them in an upcoming article. Also, please feel free to message me about new businesses coming in 2023 that you are excited for.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
