Hello A-J readers!

This week was heavy on the real estate side of business news. We explored the most expensive luxury homes, with information on why so many of the top homes were new constructions. A follow up piece with the Lubbock Association of Realtors also explained some real estate trends, including predictions for the coming months.

For closings this week, KylElote announced its sudden closing on Oct. 23, according to the owner's announcement in the LBK Foodies Group. The Ranch House Restaurant at 1520 Buddy Holly Ave. also announced that their doors would close for good on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.

Rolling into next week, we should see stories regarding expansion in the Esplanada building off of Milwaukee. Two businesses there include the second TEGA Kids gym and Mulligan's Golf. A feature on what's going on in the Metro Tower should be hitting sometime in the middle of next week as well. Another story will highlight an upcoming bakery with gelato and a sweet story.

As for this week's best bites, I took a recommendation from Cory Roof of Ogallala Greens and used some of his produce to make ramen. The lettuce brought a surprising freshness to one of my college favorites. Another treat I tried came from Hawaii Poke & Ramen, which offered a container of desserts that had a cheese biscuit-type roll with pineapple jam within. It tasted almost exactly like the classic Red Lobster biscuit with a slight fruity sweetness.

I also returned to one of my family's favorite Lubbock restaurants - Spanky's. The cheese sticks were giant and the sandwiches were delicious. The cheesesteak on a hoagie roll is now my new favorite, though the Monte Cristo is pretty good as well.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
