Around Town: Holland Jazz Orchestra fuses classics, new hits at Park Theatre
HOLLAND — The Holland Jazz Orchestra played for a crowded theater Sunday, Feb. 5, in downtown Holland.
According to host Park Theatre, the group's director, James Sawyer, was introduced in the 2022-2023 season, and brings "a wealth of educational and performing experience to the podium."
Sawyer was a member of the Kentwood Public Schools music faculty, the venue wrote, and has performed with The Temptations, Shirley Jones, Bob Hope and more. He's a member of the Grand Rapids Jazz Orchestra and the Truth in Jazz Orchestra.
Sawyer and the group's musicians brought classics and newer hits together to wow the crowd.
