The sheriff’s department also released the names of two juveniles struck by the vehicle in the 1500 block of West CR 275 N near Lake James in Steuben County’s Pleasant Township at around 8:55 p.m. Oct. 1; Wayden Bennett, 13, of rural Angola, Ind., died Oct. 3 and 12-year-old Ryly Cumings, also of Angola, was released from the hospital after being treated for a head laceration.

Richmond was taken into custody just before 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3 near the intersection of SR 827 and CR 400 N, south of Fremont, Ind.

The sheriff's office was following a tip received from a resident of Steuben County who reported seeing a vehicle possibly involved in the incident parked at the home on SR 827. Sheriff's detectives made contact with Richmond and her vehicle; damage to the vehicle appeared to be consistent with the crash and Richmond placed herself and her vehicle in the area of the crash.

Following an interview with sheriff's detectives, Richmond was booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, a level four felony, and one count of leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury.

She remains held without bond pending an initial court appearance. A search warrant also was obtained to seize Richmond's silver 2012 Jeep Liberty as evidence, as the investigation continues.
