Arrest made in fatal shooting on Slater Avenue on Saturday in Fayetteville

A Fayetteville man was arrested Monday in a fatal shooting last week on Slater Avenue in which one person was killed and three others were shot.

Rav’von Jimani Sparks, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy, and three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the Oct. 21 shooting in which Emmanuel Lashon Smith, 31, was killed and three other people were injured when someone opened fire on a group standing in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Slater Avenue off Murchison Road.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, members of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Sparks on Monday near his home in the 1300 block of Devonshire Drive.

Police said that at the time of the homicide, Sparks was on probation for charges out of Ohio. His probation was transferred to Cumberland County Probation and Parole.
