Arrest made in January bomb threat in Oxford

Feb. 13—OXFORD — An Arkansas person who made online bomb threats against a location in Oxford has been arrested and returned to Tupelo.

Oxford police received information Jan. 31 about a social media post where the person mentioned several times about a bomb threat in Oxford. Officers and a bomb-sniffing dog searched the area in question and made sure the area was safe.

Investigators learned that the person making the threat was Lily Mestemacher, 29, of Conway, Arkansas. An arrest warrant for the false reporting of placing explosives was issued that night.

Mestemacher, who authorities say identifies as female, was arrested by the Conway (Arkansas) Police Department and subsequently waved extradition. On Feb. 10, Mestemacher was transported to Oxford and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center.

A judge set bond for Mestemacher at $50,000 during an initial appearance in Lafayette County Justice Court.
