Arrest made, no one hit after Chicago police officers exchange gunfire with individual on Far South Side

Chicago police officers fired shots at someone after police said the person shot at officers Saturday morning on the Far South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.

No one was hit in the exchange of gunfire that happened around 8:45 a.m. in the 11500 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood, according to police.

Officers had responded to the area for a call of shots fired. According to police, someone fired at the officers when they arrived.

“Police returned fire without striking the subject or anyone in the area. SWAT team members were called in to resolve the situation,” the department said in a statement.
