Arrest made in Roland, Oklahoma shooting death

ROLAND, Ok. -- A man shot early Monday died in a Fort Smith hospital, and another man was jailed Tuesday in connection with the death.

Stephen Moravac, 42, was fatally shot about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Nichols Street in Roland.

When officers arrived, Cody Nichols, 34, told police he shot Moravac, the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation reports.

Roland police officers requested assistance from the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation. Sequoyah County Sheriff's investigators also assisted.

Nichols was placed under arrest at the Roland police station Tuesday on a manslaughter complaint, OSBI reports.

Nichols had not been charged in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw Wednesday afternoon, a court clerk said.
