Arrest made in shooting that killed man in Centennial neighborhood

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland police have made an arrest months after an early December shooting left one man dead in the Centennial neighborhood.

Donald Burgett II, 48, is accused of second-degree murder and unlawfully using a weapon following the death of 41-year-old Michael McFadden on Dec. 1, 2023.

That night, officers responded to SE 148th Avenue and Taggart Street where they found McFadden injured. Police called EMS and had him transported to a local hospital, but he died from his injuries.

A medical examiner determined McFadden had died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Police arrested Burgett at a residence near 2600 Southeast 145th Avenue and brought him to Multnomah County Jail on Monday, April 22.
