Arrest made in Sonoma County Library vandalism

(KRON) – The Santa Rosa Police Department arrested a suspect for the Feb. 9 vandalism of the downtown Sonoma County Library’s windows and doors.

At 11 p.m. on Feb. 9,  SRPD officers were dispatched to the Sonoma County Library to investigate the cause of several broken windows. Responding officers noticed a shattered glass entry door. The officers also observed that the emergency exit door and several windows were demolished.

Police tow 17 vehicles during tow sweep Friday in North Vallejo

According to police, the SRPD Crime Analysis Team identified the suspect from numerous community leads, video evidence, and data provided. The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Benneth Amaechi.

The arrest was followed by an officer observing Amaechi in the 600 block of Fourth Street in Santa Rosa. Amaechi was detained without incident at 5:35 a.m. on Feb. 19, police said. Amaechi was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for felony vandalism and felony probation violation.

According to police, facility management personnel estimated the damage to be up to $10,000.
