Arrests Made as Andrew Brown Jr Protesters Defy Curfew in Elizabeth City

Elizabeth City Police said arrests were being made on the night of April 28-29 as people protesting the police shooting of Andrew Brown Jr defied a curfew in the city.

Brown, 42, was fatally shot by a deputy on on April 21 while authorities were serving a search warrant, according to Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten.

A curfew from 8 pm to 6 am was announced on April 26, and remained in place on the night of April 28.
