4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ARSENAL MANAGER, MIKEL ARTETA, ON THE WIN, SAYING:

"Well it's always great to come to Wembley and get another trophy under the belt. We had a big challenge today against these incredible opponents and as well because we had only three sessions together. Some of the players had only one session with us, but they still show the courage and ambition and the way they want to compete for this football club."

7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ARSENAL MANAGER, MIKEL ARTETA, ON AUBAMEYANG'S FUTURE, SAYING:

"I don't know, I'm not worried because we can take to do as much as possible to convince the player or tell them what we think about him and put all the cards on the table to try to keep him here. But, after is the part of the player and the agent that have to agree to that. I think we build a really good relationship between us and hopefully we can do it. So, now I am confident, I'm happy, I see how he behaves everyday and how much he admires in training and believe me with 'Auba' that's really good sign."

9. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ARSENAL MANAGER, MIKEL ARTETA, ON BEING CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT THE UPCOMING SEASON, SAYING:

"Yeah, that's a different task. I don't think it's a one-off either when you beat the teams we have beat in the last two months consistently. But obviously after ten months the table showed last season that we are very, very far away and the gap is enormous and we have to try (close) that gap as quick as possible, really, really short and in order to do that we look at a lot of aspects in the game that we have to improve."

12. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, ON BREWSTER'S MISSED PENALTY, SAYING:

"I rarely join, or share my football experiences with the boys, because that's too long ago and everything, but he, I'm not the only one who missed a penalty in my life in the team. So, the boys pick him up. It's not about me that'll make it bigger than it is. He missed the penalty, we had a few words directly when he left the pitch. That's all fine. Nothing to apologise for or whatever, that's football, no problem. We should, if we wanted to win the game then we should have scored during the 92 minutes. We didn't do that often enough and that's why we came to penalty shootout and that's a lottery, we know that."

14. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, ON THE LOSS, SAYING:

"We didn't win the game, but we lost the competition obviously because of penalty shootout and because we conceded a goal from Aubameyang, didn't use our chances and that's, then you, game's open. Scored late, which is not a problem, but could have scored earlier. That would have helped and yeah, had the game then in the right direction I would say, but time was not enough and so, that's how it is."

15. WHITE FLASH

16. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, ON IF HE IS IN FAVOUR OF FIVE SUBSTITUTIONS NEXT SEASON, SAYING:

"We have 38 Premier League games in a four-week shorter season, that says it all. And all the other competitions will be pretty much the same as far as I know and that means just that these things would help. But I could imagine that other teams see that differently. So, but it's never because having an advantage. I saw it last year as well, in the last, when we played the last nine games of the season and we thought 'oh good, City are bringing on five players. Not bad'. But it's all about how can we get through this season and not who gets a little advantage here or little advantage there. It's really, how can we get through the season. I think for getting in a good way through the season for the sake of the football players and the performance levels, I think it would make sense."

STORY: Arsenal beat Liverpool 5-4 on penalties on Saturday (August 29) to lift the Community Shield, the curtain-raiser for the English domestic season, after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw on a chilly afternoon at Wembley.

Gunners captain and match goal-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang blasted home the final penalty of the afternoon to complete the north London side's second win over the league champions in the space of six weeks following a shortened summer break.

The game was a very even and at times rather slow affair, with Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk having an early strike ruled out offside before Arsenal's opener, a well-worked move to break out of the champions' high press.

Bukayo Saka took the ball up the field on the right, crossed all the way over to Aubameyang on the far left, and the Gabon striker skipped forward and curled an inch-perfect shot beyond the reach of Liverpool keeper Alisson into the opposite corner.

The Liverpool attack appeared disjointed by contrast. While they pushed Arsenal right back up the field for long stretches in the first half, they were unable to put together a single shot on goal.

Liverpool's Japanese substitute Takumi Minamino levelled the tie in the 73rd minute with a shot from close range, picking up his first goal in 15 appearances since arriving on Merseyside in January.

Mohamed Salah, Fabinho, Minamino and substitute Curtis Jones all scored for Liverpool in the shootout, but fellow substitute Rhian Brewster blasted his shot - his first touch of the ball - onto the bar.

Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Cedric Soares and David Luiz all scored for the Gunners before Aubameyang stroked his shot past Alisson to seal the victory for the Londoners.
