Arson investigation underway after person found dead in burning vehicle in Lynn

An arson investigation is underway after a person was found dead in a burning vehicle in Lynn on Thursday night, officials announced Friday.

Officers responding to a report of a fire at 43 Boston Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. found a car engulfed in flames outside of a cluster of businesses, according to the Lynn Police Department.

A person was found dead in the car after crews extinguished the blaze. They have yet to be identified.

The car fire caused minor damage to buildings in the plaza.

Massachusetts State Police, Lynn detectives, and an arson squad are investigating.

There were no additional details immediately available.
