Art Beat accepting artist and poster design applications

SOUTH BEND — Applications are now being accepted from visual, performing and culinary artists for participation in Downtown South Bend Inc.’s Art Beat and Art Beat Poster Design Contest.

The 19th annual Art Beat takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 20 in downtown South Bend.

Art Beat features more than 700 individual and group artists and performers, drawing over 16,000 visitors.

The Culinary Arts Village returns for its 11th year. Kid Beat! also returns for a fifth year, in partnership with the South Bend Museum of Art.

Art Beat is open to artists residing in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall and Starke counties in Indiana and Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan.

Booth space is free for all participating artists; however, a $10 application fee does apply. Non-profit and arts organizations may also apply.

Submissions also are being accepted for the Art Beat 2022 poster design contest. The design should capture the spirit of the event, celebrating the various forms of the arts. All entries will be judged for creativity, composition, theme and technique.

The deadline for both artist applications and poster contest submissions is May 1.
