Art exhibit envelopes Toronto in colorful 'gas'

STORY: Spectators were enveloped in the smoke which artist Judy Chicago said was intended to create awareness of 'gasses encircling the planet and the pervading mood of a place at a given moment in town.'

For Saturday's show, fireworks and other explosives were arranged on a scaffolding positioned on a barge in Toronto's Lake Ontario.

Spectators gathered near the edge of the water to watch the fireworks and plumes of smoke.

Many could be seen snapping photos as clouds of green smoke descended on the crowd.

Chicago's immersive exhibit titled 'A Tribute to Toronto' was the latest from the artist known for creating large-scale experiences involving pyrotechnics.
