Winter cocktails, art festivals, a touch-a-truck event for kids, and holiday shopping are on the lineup this weekend in Houma and Thibodaux.

Winter Craft Cocktails

Get a head start with winter festive feelings Friday by sampling Fremin’s new winter cocktails.

Drinks include Hot Tea Toddy, Sugar Plum Martini, White Chocolate Peppermint Bark, Spiked Hot Chocolate, and Whiskey Cold Brew.

Go to the upstairs bar to check out the new beverages and to hear music by Jenna Hunts.

Bayou Arts Fest

The Bayou Regional Arts Council is starting a new tradition this weekend with its inaugural Bayou Arts Fest in downtown Houma.

Activities include live music, shopping from local vendors, and a Cultural Food Cook-Off.

Proceeds will go toward the nonprofit and the arts programs it sponsors.

To participate in the cook-off, showcase artwork, or become a sponsor, visit bayouarts.org.

When: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Downtown Houma in and around the Courthouse Square.

Touch-a-Truck Event

Kids will get a chance to get up close with farm machinery, fire and police cars and other vehicles at Saturday's Touch a Truck event at the Bayou Country Children's Museum in Thibodaux.

The Bayou Country Children’s Museum will host a touch-a-truck experience Saturday.

Children will have the opportunity to climb inside and interact with police cars, fire trucks, John Deere farm machinery, and other vehicles while learning about careers in agriculture, construction, maritime, and emergency response.

Family Fun Day

A free Family Fun Day filled with children's activities is scheduled for Saturday at Southdown Plantation Pavillion in Houma.

It includes a cornhole tournament and gumbo cook-off with free samples. For kids, there will be a petting zoo, face painting, games, and an obstacle course.

Sponsored by the Kid Energy USA Foundation, it's billed as a Back the Blue event, which raises money for police causes.

When: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Pavilion at Southdown Plantation, off St. Charles Street near La. 311.

Artistic Face of a Tribal Nation

The United Houma Nation will host an event Saturday featuring food and cultural demonstrations.

Live music will be performed by Ryan Foret and Foret Tradition.

When: Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Where: United Houma Nation offices, 400 Monarch Drive in Houma.

Christmas Art Show & Gift Shop

Join the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild for the second weekend of its Christmas Art Show and Gift Shop.

Visit the gallery from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday to check out original paintings and gift items. A reception is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
