You won't be wearing these fashions to the Kentucky Derby, but they're part of an eye-catching springtime event that's not to be missed.

If you haven't attended the annual pre-Derby KMAC Couture runway show, you're missing a spectacular juxtaposition of fashion, art, design, and performance.

Over the past decade, KMAC Museum has held its ultra-unique fashion event and fundraiser under a huge tent erected at 715 W. Main St. in downtown Louisville, just outside the museum's front door. But not in 2023.

"Over the past 10 years, KMAC Couture has rapidly evolved from a small, but unique fundraising event, to one of the most exciting annual displays of innovative fashion in the state," said Michelle Skaggs, executive director KMAC Museum. "We are embarking on a new chapter and are excited to move the 2023 event to Paristown Pointe to elevate the experience for artists, models, and attendees in a way that a 24-hour closure on Main Street did not allow."

Here's what to know about the 2023 KMAC Couture runway show:

What is the theme for the 2023 KMAC Couture?

The theme for this year's KMAC Couture is "One for the Books" and will feature 68 wearable art runway looks from 68 artists who have been challenged to find inspiration within the pages of a treasured book or piece of literature.

"We have a talented group of artists from across the globe, with more looks walking the runway than ever before," said Michelle Skaggs, executive director of KMAC Museum.
