Insatiable Audrey II at Porthouse in 'Little Shop'
Catch the opening show for Porthouse Theatre's 45th summer season, "Little Shop of Horrors," previewing June 16, opening June 17 and running through July 2. In this story, there's a very strange plant with an even stranger appetite at the florist shop on Skid Row where the meek Seymour works.

Tribal love in 'Hair' at Knight Stage
Millennial Theater Project will perform the American tribal love rock musical "Hair," the product of hippie counterculture and the sexual revolution of the 1960s, Friday through June 25 at the Knight Stage at the Akron Civic Theatre. "Hair," which premiered on Broadway in 1968, defined the genre of the rock musical. It won a Tony Award for its 2009 Broadway revival.

Akron ArtWalk at Summit Artspace
Summit Artspace will host "Young at HeART: Explore Arts and Aging" for the Akron Artwalk 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at 140 E. Market St., Akron. Guests can peruse the studios of resident artists and check out pop-up vendors as well as exhibitions in the galleries.
Part of Summit Street will be closed for an outdoor, intergenerational mandala-making activity led by artist Care Hanson. The Summit Artspace parking lot will host food vendors and musicians including the Rubber City Ukes, who will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. Media sponsor 91.3 The Summit will stream the station's broadcast from Summit Artspace's second-floor gallery.
Other participating ArtWalk venues in Akron's Historic Arts District are the Akron-Summit County Public Library downtown branch, which will be open until 7 p.m. with its Urban Homesteading Sustainability Expo as well as live music by the Bluestones; and the Akron Art Museum, open until 8 p.m. with free admission.
Nightlight Cinema will show "The Tsugua Diaries" at 5:30 p.m. and "Neptune Frost" at 7:45 p.m. and Musica will present Failed Astronauts, Deep Sigh, So Nectar and Sister Sandy, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
At the Northside District, Northside Cellar will be open until 5 p.m. and Zeber-Martell Gallery and Clay Studio will be open until 6 p.m. Curated Storefront also will host "Spray Play: An Art 'Crawl' Event" from 4 to 8 p.m. at Outside the Box at 110 N. Main St., which will include the unveiling of international muralist El Mac's mural "Stardust."
Guests also can visit the city of Akron Rubber Worker Statue at 22 E. Mill St. and talk to representatives about how to use the accompanying touchscreen kiosk. Bluff Blue Door Gallery, 152 Bluff St., also will have an art opening from 5 to 7 p.m.

North Coast Men's Chorus at Goodyear Theatre
The North Coast Men's Chorus will perform "Our Great Big Broadway Show" at 5 p.m. Sunday at Goodyear Theater, 1201 E. Market St., Akron. The group will perform show tunes from favorite musicals including "Anything Goes," "Les Miserables," "Aida," "The Color Purple," "Annie," "The Secret Garden," "Curtains," "West Side Story," "The Prom" and more. Guest soloists will be Treva Offutt and Tina Stump.

'Hear What's in the Heart' returns to Wild Oscar's
Steven Scionti's one-man show was such a sold-out success, the former Los Angeles and New York actor is reprising "Hear What’s in The Heart – A Shoemaker’s Tale” at Wild Oscar’s at the Civic for three weekends at 8 p.m. Saturday through June 26. The show, part of BOOM! Theater’s season, is a loving story of a Sicilian-American family.
Scionti's play has received praise from the New York Times and received two Drama-Logue Awards for its Los Angeles performances. Cost for the Akron show, set in the new 60-seat Wild Oscar venue below the Civic at the Lock 4 level, is $20 and tickets are on sale now. Call 330-253-2488 or see www.akroncivic.com.
